Join FiDi Families in supporting Angel Tree and give back to families in need with the Angel Tree Toy Drive!
The Salvation Army Angel Tree holiday program provides new clothing and toys for local children in need. Specifically, the Downtown Angel Tree supports the 14th Street Salvation Army location, which serves children and families from 23rd Street to South Ferry. After a child has been registered as an Angel, The Salvation Army makes a promise to provide Christmas for them by fulfilling three items from their wish list.
New this year is the option to sponsor a senior.
Once you contact the volunteers at Angel Tree, you will be assigned a child, along with their wish list. Please adhere to this list as these may be the only gifts the Angel children receive this year. We want every child to have what they’re hoping for on Christmas morning so if for any reason you cannot complete their entire request, please let us know. If you want to send extra new toys or clothes please feel free, as there is no shortage of need.
Last year Angel Tree supported over 1000 children; we are the #1 contributor of Christmas list sponsorships at the 14th Street Salvation Army.
The Angel Tree process is as follows: you request a child or senior citizen and you will receive their wish list, which can include anything from Legos and dolls to winter coats and gloves. It runs the gamut, but no single gift is extravagant, and in almost all cases, these are the only gifts they will receive this year.
On average, the cost of sponsoring someone’s wish list is approximately $100. Any gifts above and beyond the wish list are greatly appreciated, but not expected.
All gifts are due by Sunday, December 15 at 15 Broad Street!
