The Elf on the Shelf: A Birthday Tradition. Join Barnes and Noble as they celebrate an Elf Birthday Party. The free event will kick off with a reading of The Elf on the Shelf: A Birthday Tradition. Children will write letters to Santa letting him know about their birthday and inviting their elf to the event. Kids will also participate in a “hide and seek” elf activity, cupcake decorating, and play Elf on the Shelf apps on NOOK^®.  The book comes with an adorable elf birthday outfit in the shape of a cupcake, and provides families with another opportunity to share a special occasion with their elf.
