Why am I seeing Teal Pumpkins everywhere?

Halloween, what is a favorite holiday for some, is a dreaded one for others. 1 in 13 children in the US live with food allergies. As we all know, many hidden allergens are in candy- and Halloween is a day that has us food allergy parents on edge. The Teal Pumpkin Project initiative began by Becky Basalone and the Food Allergy Community of East Tennessee (FACET) and launched as a national campaign by FARE in 2014 to help make Halloween safer and happier for all.

To take part in the 2016 Teal Pumpkin Project, people in the community can try one or all of the following:

– Provide non-food treats for trick-or treaters

– Paint or decorate a Teal Pumpkin and put it outside your home to show that you have food-free treats

> (Michaels Craft Store, Target and Oriental Trading Company offer Teal Pumpkin Decorating Kits!)

– Display a sign or poster on your door (FREE download HERE)

– Take a photo of your Teal displays and hashtag #tealpumpkinproject to help spread the word!

– Host a fundraiser with the proceeds going towards Teal Pumpkin Project

Downloadable free materials located HERE – Help spread the word and help Halloween be a safe, fun, holiday for ALL children!
