The historic Seaport District is hosting a unique, one of a kind exhibit on its storied cobblestone streets, known as the The Taylor Swift Experience™.
FiDi Families and friends recently visited the exhibit with a 6, 5 and 4 year old and it appealed to them and to the grownups. The kids loved the chance to listen to Taylor Swifts songs, to dance around a light up floor, visit the “recording studio” and watch some of her performances on a series of screens in the 2 level space, at Seaport Studios. The exhibit was previously in Los Angeles, CA and experienced a successful run there. This is the first time the exhibit has hit the East Coast and that may have something to do with the fact that Swift calls Tribeca, in Lower Manhattan, her home. We like to think its because she has fabulous fans here in NYC, but she has a world-wide audience, so its impossible for any city to make that claim.
She has become a fashion icon, in addition to being known as a singer-songwriter. And, the fashions on hand, did not disappoint. Included were costumes from videos, Grammy appearances and her concert tours.
There was a fun dance floor that the kids enjoyed, with the catchy tune, “Shake It Off”, which created an instant dance party. The exhibit is full of fun, interesting memorabilia and personal photographs that share a glimpse into her upbringing and family life. But, also shows the fun side of being a very successful recording artist (40 million albums sold!).
It was a fun experience for kids of all ages and the space that holds the exhibit is nicely done and allows visitors to explore and take their time through the photos, lyrics and costumes on display. For parents with little kids, there are two things of note: there are bathrooms on site and kids 5 and under are free! We loved it and think its a must-do!
Tickets to view The Taylor Swift Experience are $9 (plus taxes and additional processing fees) and can be purchased by the public at Ticketmaster. Following its New York showing, The Taylor Swift Experience will continue to travel with its next stop being GRAMMY Museum Mississippi in Cleveland, MS.
The GRAMMY Museum® exhibit runs through February 19th and is located in the historic Seaport District at 19 Fulton Street.
