Taste of the Seaport 2014. The Taste of the Seaport celebrated its 5th annual extravaganza and it did not disappoint anyone in attendance. For the first time, there were two benefactors of this wonderful fundraiser; the Spruce Street School and the soon to be completed Peck Slip School. Both schools are located in the Financial District and will share the profits from this remarkable day. The Taste of the Seaport is an opportunity for attendees to sample restaurant fares from establishments along Front Street, Beekman Street, South Street and as far south as Cedar Street to Stone Street. This year, the Kid Zone was sponsored by NY Presbyterian Hospital Lower Manhattan and included the EMT’s and ambulance from the newly opened hospital. The Church Street School for Music and Art hosted an amazing construction site, allowing children of all ages to use their imaginations and build forts, castles and a slew of other kid-friendly haunts. Dunkin Donuts also hosted a donut decorating station, GoGo squeeZ supplied their well-known squeezable applesauce pouches and AquaBall provided their character covered flavored water to help fundraise for the two schools. The lineup of restaurants included the much-loved Paris Cafe as well as newbies Cedar Local and Insomnia Cookies. There were tastes from fantastic restaurants along the Old Seaport streets including Aqua and Suteishi but also included favorites from the heart of FiDi including Capital Grille and a Stone Street favorite, Mad Dog and Beans.
FiDi Families was invited to introduce this wonderful event, as a local business in lower Manhattan and because we are proud Peck Slip parents. On this episode the South Street Seaport You Tube Channel highlights the 5th annual “Taste Of The Seaport”.
