Success Academy City Hall Opening August 2014
As the downtown baby boom continues, FiDi’s growing number of families can look forward to a new charter school option in the neighborhood this August: Success Academy City Hall, located at 411 Pearl Street in lower Manhattan.
Nationally recognized for its innovative curriculum, Success Academy is a network of world-class schools that place a high priority on engagement and academic rigor, while creating a warm, colorful, and joyous environment. Students learn to think critically, solve problems and develop their creative talents during an extended day that includes daily science, chess, the arts, field studies, recess, and sports. Perhaps most important, parents enjoy close communication with teachers and staff.
At Success Academy, teachers inspire children to fall in love with learning, and it shows. Success Academy schools are among the top performing public schools in the city. Last year, on the more rigorous, Common Core-aligned state tests, their students ranked in the top 1 percent of all New York State schools for math and in the top 7 percent for English.
Success Academy City Hall will open for grades K-1 this August, and will expand by a grade each year through 4th grade; students will able to continue in grades 5-12 at other locations. Admission is by lottery, and demand for this high-quality free education is growing as more parents spread the word.
