South Street Seaport Family Events


South Street Seaport Museum. 
Established to promote the preservation of ships, this museum offers a display of historic ships, changing exhibits, tours, films, and harbor sails aboard 19th-century schooners. There is also a Children’s Center, which offers a wide variety of activities for kids that range from learning to tie knots and raise sails to going on an overnight sailing trip.

The Seaport Museum continues to offer some amazing programming for children and grownups alike.

August 20th and 27th – Stop by this historic gem from 1p – 2:30p for a dockside visit aboard the Pioneer. Explore harbor ecology with hands on, family friendly activities (included with admission). 

August 22nd – There is a wonderful family book event that will be held aboard the 1907 Barque Peking. Author and illustrator Brian Floca will share his award winning story Lightship, inspired by the ships that are docked at the South Street Seaport. This book reading and storytelling event is open to all ages. Complimentary GoGo squeeZ and more! FiDi Families Insiders: Kids under 11 years of age will receive free admission to the Seaport exhibits on their two ships, the PEKING and AMBROSE.
