Did you know the Lower Manhattan is home to the incredible Skyscraper Museum? This beautiful destination celebrates the City’s rich architectural heritage and examines the historical forces and individuals that have shaped its successive skylines. Through exhibitions, programs, and publications, the Museum explores tall buildings as objects of design, products of technology, sites of construction, investments in real estate, and places of work and residence.
Families are invited to visit the museum this weekend for a tour of models in the gallery, where kids will learn about the history of skyscrapers and how/why we build them. Participants will then be challenged to build a structure using index cards that are 10 inches tall using no more than 10 inches of tape. Cards can be rolled, stacked or folded. It’s the perfect chance to get kids to think creatively and without an electronic device in hand!
