Sailing Day Camp for Kids 8-13
The BEST summer camp in the city. Kids learn to sail on “Optimist” dinghies near the Statue of Liberty. Operation Optimist is run by the NY Harbor Sailing Foundation. The program is in its 11th season and has grown to 40 Optimist dinghies, making it super great. The program runs for 10 weeks every summer and kids can sign up for any number of weeks. There are discounts for multiple weeks.
From Manhattan, the drop-off is at the Battery Park City Ferry Terminal at 9 am. The pick-up is at 5:15 pm at the same location – perfect for working families. You can rent a boat from the Foundation so you do not need to own any equipment except a life jacket. This program will get your kids outdoors and into the fresh air and sunshine. This will be the greatest summer for your kids. They will gain incredible confidence, meet new friends and win some trophies.
Parents say that they enjoy watching their child’s confidence grow as s/he learns self-reliance and gains a unique skill.
