Release of the Fishes marks the closing of the Hudson River Park’s Wetlab for the year. The River Project invites families to the Wetlab to learn more about the marine animals, help them thank the educational ambassadors, and release the marine life back into the Hudson River with The River Project scientists. Visitors can choose a fish from the aquarium and accompany it as it is released into the river by staff. Food and drinks from local establishments are provided and donated prizes are raffled. There are also activities for all ages, including ecology-themed games and crafts, a touch tank with crabs, snails and other native invertebrates, and a microscopy station manned by volunteers from the American Museum of Natural History.
