Red Hook Ferry Service Expanding for FiDi and Brooklyn!
FiDi Families are fans of any opportunity to be on the water. So, it was great to learn that the City is making an attempt to help bring more economic activity to Red Hook, a victim of Hurricane Sandy. The Red Hook Ferry is expanding the free weekend IKEA ferry service. This will give folks access to Red Hook’s commercial corridor during the Summer. Beginning May 25th, the IKEA Ferry will depart from Pier 11 downtown every 25 minutes (currently it’s every 40 minutes), and it will stop at Van Brunt Street (near Fairway) in addition to the IKEA pier.
The boats will operate from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. during summer weekends. Free transfers on the East River Ferry will help Brooklyn residents reach Midtown.
IKEA will also continue offering its regular weekday ferry service, which costs $5.
Dates: May 25th – September 2nd
