My First Nutcracker at the NYC Children's Theater

FiDi Contributor Teresa Wang’s Review of My First Nutcracker at the NYC Children’s Theatre

Want to create holiday memories with your kids through experiences over material things that would otherwise clutter the home? Want something exciting and fun for your kids to enjoy indoors? Or have family and friends visiting on the weekends and want to see a show with the kids? My First Nutcracker is a great gift from loved ones to your little ones. NYC Children’s Theater 2019-20 season kicks off with a classic ballet but catered to the youngest of theatergoers.

My 6 yo, 4 yo and 1 yo, all loved the production and were mesmerized from beginning to end. The show was the perfect amount of time to let them experience a quintessential NYC holiday experience with the freedom to wiggle around and even interact with the performers. Whether your kids have never stepped foot in a theater or are seasoned veterans, this unique rendition will surely be a memory that little ones will cherish for years to come.

This is the New York City Children’s Theaters’ 23rd season with a classic holiday story adapted for young audiences. In the 50-minute production, fun-filled holiday adventure, audiences will travel with Clara and the Prince to a magical kingdom filled with delicious treats, dancing flowers, and a pesky mouse king.

My First Nutcracker is an introduction to the classic holiday story, directed and choreographed by Melissa Riker, Artistic Director of Kinesis Project, and written by Barbara Zinn Krieger. The all-female creative team includes: Set Designer– Sheryl Liu, Light Designer – Carolyn Wong, Costume Designer – Heather McDevitt Barton and Sound Designer– Megan Culle.
