Just because you are visiting or live in New York City doesn’t mean you still can’t enjoy a day at the playground with your kids. Luckily for you, FiDi is located near a bunch of fun and unique playgrounds that will help your family get some fresh air. From awesome slides and climbing apparatuses to water features and elevated playhouses, these outdoor (and one indoor!) playgrounds are a great way for your children to use their imagination and energy. No matter the season, these must-visit playgrounds are all easily accessible from the FiDi neighborhood and will keep your little ones occupied for hours on end.

Pearl Street Playground
Located right in the middle of the South Street Seaport, this playground is on the smaller side but is located near a ton of restaurants, ice cream shops, and the Seaport museum. Kids can hop around on elevated platforms, fun bridges, slides, and tunnels. There is also a small sand pit and water apparatus that is great for the summer months.

Imagination Playground
Just a few steps away from the East River and ferry terminal, Imagination Playground is also right around the corner from Pearl Street Playground. Let your children explore this playground that has a large sand pit, slides, bridges and a unique telephone system that will delight kids of all ages.

Battery Playscape
Located in the Battery, this outdoor playground is about a 15-minute walk from FiDi. The Battery Playscape is a multi-level discovery landscape for play that lets children experience nature. Kids can play on five ecology zones, including Bluff, Riverbed, Marsh, Dune, and Meadow. Depending on which area they choose, children can run and play on footbridges, tunnels, connecting ladders, rock walls, climbing structures and a theater.

West Thames Playground
Designed for children up to the age of 12, this playground is great for a day of outdoor fun. You’ll find slides, monkey bars, climbing structures, a sandpit, benches, and water sprays that are great for the warmer months. There is also a large lawn where you can unwind and relax with a park blanket or beach towel in between play time. This playground is surrounded by a few kid-friendly restaurants and cafes where you can grab lunch or a snack.

Rockefeller Park Playground
For amazing views of the surrounding water, head to Rockefeller Park Playground. Located in Battery Park City, you and your family could easily spend the afternoon visiting this playground.

Kids can enjoy hanging nets, wooden and platform bridges, climbing structures, slides, and an awesome pedal carousel. Beyond the playground, you can enjoy the surrounding park that has a ton of grass to play on and public restrooms.

Complete Playground
For those unexpected rainy days, you can head to Complete Playground, an indoor family center where you can book open play for your children. The 40,000 square foot space features a bounce house, tunnels, an obstacle course, a miniature city, and interactive technology areas. They also offer everyday classes such as art, yoga, dance, music, martial arts, and more.
