MocaFamily: Lunar New Year Family Festival! Blaaast into the New Year with MOCA! Visitors of all ages are invited to celebrate Chinese and Chinese American traditions and folk arts! Enjoy an awe-inspiring lion dance, create zodiac themed crafts, embark on storytelling journeys, and sway along with Chinatown’s Red Silk Dancers – and much more family fun at MOCA, so herd on over!
Performances & Demonstrations include Lion Dance Performance and Workshop by the Columbia University Lion Dance Troupe, New Year Festival Dances with the Chinatown’s Red Silk Dancers, and Tastes of the New Year: Tasting & Demonstrations. Workshops & Other Activities include Drop in Arts and Crafts Activities: Fantastic Firecrackers and Zany Zodiac Puppets, Rest + Play, and Legends Story Time. Teaching Artist Demonstrations include Calligraphy Corner with Tianyi Shan, Fish for More! with OrigamiTree.com’s Jenny Chan, Balloon Animal Art with Artist Corinne Robkin, Zodiac Face Painting, and Puppet Making + Puppetry with Chinese Theatre Works. Some events are ticketed events, which are free with admission, but have limited capacity!
