mini-Preneur Launches in FiDi
As many parents know, introducing kids to the big ideas of business and commerce can be tough. But, giving kids the chance to learn and practice entrepreneurship in an informal way, is a great way to encourage kids to get involved, ask questions and have fun. So, when we found out about a new summer camp that was launching in FiDi, specifically designed to get kids minds thinking about innovation and business, we were thrilled.
Children inspired by creating and selling products have an opportunity to hone their entrepreneurship skills with a new kid-friendly business company in Lower Manhattan, “mini-Preneur”. The program teaches children about social citizenship, team collaboration, technology and thinking “glocal”, or creating ideas which start with the community, but also have a global impact. “mini-Preneur” offers a number of classes, camps, and contests for children interested in designing their own business or product
For kids 8 – 11: Campers will have a chance to design a business, create a commercial, design their products, and bring their business to life. Children aged 11-14 can partake in a camp focusing on making their ideas a reality, including working with real entrepreneurs and adding technology to their ideas.
For kids 7 – 16: Campers are invited to the mini-Preneur’s End of Summer Shark Tank event. Campers are invited to pitch their idea for the next great product and win up to $2,500. Interested children can submit a pitch deck, presentation, business plan, or video pitch along with an entry fee of $99.
FiDi Families Insiders: It is not required to be enrolled in a summer camp to be a member of the Shark Tank competition, but those enrolled in the summer camps may be eligible to have their entry fee waived.
