Lower Manhattan is host to a ton of fun Halloween events. FiDi Families has highlighted some of our favorites throughout Lower Manhattan and hope to see you out and about in your Halloween finest! Each event listed below includes the date and time for these favorites. In addition, each event has a website which has been hyper-linked for your convenience. Haunted High Line Halloween Saturday, October 26th (11a – 3p)
Hop on the A/C/E to the gorgeous High Line and make sure you are in costume so you can trick-or-treat with characters from the High Line’s industrial past. Enjoy pony rides, a haunted train tunnel, get lost in a hay-bale maze, dance to a ditty, decorate a pumpkin from our pumpkin patch, and enjoy arts and crafts and more. Events take place along the High Line and 9th Avenue from 13th to 18th Streets. Check out their website for specific events and locations!
Halloween Costume Parade at the Scholastic Store (Saturday, October 26th 3p – 4p)
Celebrate ghosts, skeletons, pumpkins, pirates, and all of your favorite things about Halloween with Clifford! Come dressed in your best costume to make spooky Halloween treat bags, join Clifford in his Halloween Parade, and take part in a costume contest! Located at 557 Broadway (between Prince & Spring Streets).
The Learning Experience Children’s Academy’s Fall Harvest Festival (Saturday, October 26th from 11a – 2p)
Children of all ages are invited to the costume contest and enjoy activities such as Candy Apple Decorating, Pumpkin Painting, a Not-so-scary Haunted House, Face painting and bubbles tattoos and more! Located at 28 Washington Street.
5th Annual Kidz Carnival (Sunday, October 27th from 12p – 6p)
Pier 26 transforms into Halloween Central with fun-filled attractions for the family. Wear your costumes and participate in face painting, mask decorating, wax hands, cotton candy, spin art, rides and more. In addition to these spooktacular activities, the Story Pirates will perform Halloween-themed improve shows throughout the day. Most events are free; select activities $2. Located at Pier 26 (cross at N. Moore Street).
Washington Market Park (Sunday, October 27th from 12:45p – 3p)
A costume parade, arts and crafts, kids concert with Princess Katie & Racer Steve, games, a Bone Dig and a hay-bale maze! Parade line-up starts at 12:45p on Greenwich and N. Moore Streets.
Battery Park City’s Screamin’ Green Halloween (Sunday, October 27th from 12p – 3p)
Events at the Winter Garden/Brookfield Plaza include Bobbing for Apples and other Halloween themed games and activities, including spooky poetry readings by the folks from the Poets House. There is also a costume swap at Winter Garden. And, be sure to stop by the “Ghoulish Green Screen” for funny Halloween pictures. The parade, led by a marching band, starts at 3p at 220 Vesey Street (near West Street).
Hometown Halloween at Trinity Church (Thursday, October 31st from 3p – 6p*)
The ultimate in spooky…trick-or-treat in the chapel graveyard. In addition to treats, apple cider will be on offer and families can have their photos taken. A prize drawing for an iPod Nano will also take place. The trick-or-treating is open to kids of all ages, and costumes are encouraged. *The 1920 silent film Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde will be shown inside the church, accompanied by a haunting organ improvisation played by Dr. Robert Ridgell. Best for older kids/adults. Located at 74 Trinity Place (between Rector and Thames Streets).
Asphalt Screams (Thursday, October 31st from 4p – 6p)
Join costumed kids for Zombie Freeze Tag, Spooktacular Soccer Shootout and more. Goody bags for the first 300 children. Event is free but a suggested donation of $20/family will help support the Healthy City Kids Campaign. Located at 212 North End Avenue in BPC.
