Governor’s Island African Film Festival
Join the African Film Festival and the Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation as they celebrate Family Day on Governors Island by sharing an up-close and personal introduction to the culture of the African continent. Make your way to Colonel’s Row for a great selection of rich and vibrant cultural activities for kids and adults alike, including free films, African dance classes, storytelling, and African cuisine.
This full day festival will feature free dance classes with world-renowned choreographers and master teachers from Brazil, Senegal, and Guinea. There will also be free storytelling, double-dutch and quilting demonstrations and workshops. Short African films by emerging and veteran directors will be shown throughout the day. African food vendors will be on site.
