Four activities in one event.
- CATCH-AND-RELEASE FISHING 10am – 2pm: Experience the thrill of catch-and-release fishing and discover the variety of marine life thriving in the Hudson River! Skilled anglers will be on hand to assist. Rods and bait provided or bring your own. Observe the day’s catch in aerated tanks and discover what you can do to steward the recovery of the Hudson.
- VOLUNTEER GARDENING 10am: Get your hands dirty in the planting beds of Wagner Park. Work with BPC Parks’ renowned horticulture staff and experience organic, sustainable gardening.
- BIRD WATCHING 11am: NYC is known among birders as a fantastic and unique place to observe birds, especially during spring and fall migration seasons. Join a naturalist/horticulturalists team as we look for birds and learn about the plantings and flowers which attract them. All ages and experience levels are welcome! Binoculars available to borrow.
- FAMILY PERFORMANCE 12pm: Arm-of-the-Sea Theater presents Dirt: The Secret Life of Soil – Where does food come from and from what is it made? Come see Arm-of-the-Sea‘s primer for “urban bumpkins upcountry gardeners alike” to learn about the miraculous workings of the earth beneath us and all the organisms within.
