Fred Rogers Advice for parents
Parents around the world are reeling from the tragedy in Sandy Hook, CT. Advice is on the web from the NY Times and every parenting author known to man are all providing tips on how to address the tragedy with their children. My children visit TriBeCa Pediatrics and the practice sent out a note today with some great articles and suggestions. But, the point that hit home was the advice that apparently the beloved Mr. Rogers own Mom had given him and I thought it was worth repeating. As described by the late Fred Rogers: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers; so many caring people in this world.” – Fred Rogers
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the families affected by this tragedy.
