Residential buildings in Lower Manhattan used to be a dime a dozen. Times have changed and the neighborhood is getting a revamp with new buildings, new amenities, and dining destinations that are unprecedented. The new luxury buildings that are slated to open in 2016 are impressive and worthy of many discussions on architecture, the new downtown skyline and the onslaught of services that are normally reserved for luxury hotels. A perfect example of luxury and incredible design is the Piet Boon designed 101 Wall residential building. The well-known Dutch designer has created a signature, yet distinctive and unique residential building, with a tip of the hat to the Art Deco architecture of the building.
The building was built in 1931 and Boon has been very thoughtful in his design approach, with a concerted effort to retain the historical details, and he specifically maintained a historical presence of the original design in the lobby. The floorplans are unique and range from one to four bedrooms, as is the neighborhood known as FiDi/Seaport and the building is sophisticated and masterful. The building will offer amenities such as a library, a rooftop lounge, a children’s playroom, and open lounge spaces for residents to enjoy.
