The Downtown CoNNection shuttle bus is a free bus service that is sponsored by the Alliance for Downtown NY and Battery Park City Authority. The bus (affectionately known in our apartment building as the “bumpy bus” connects Lower Manhattan from Battery Park City to Battery Place along Water Street to the South Street Seaport area, including the Financial District. It is stroller friendly (as long as you know how to fold up your stroller) and an easy way to shuttle the kids to Battery Park from FiDi, a drop off in Tribeca after a movie at Regal Cinemas or anywhere in between. The shuttle service is available 7 days a week from 10:00am – 7:30pm.
If you are a parent with little one’s that insist that they are too big for a stroller and yet walking with them throughout downtown is about as fun as stubbing your toe, you may want to consider the Downtown Connection shuttle service as the Uber for the stroller set. The Downtown CoNNection buses run approximately every 10 minutes, picking up passengers at stops marked with the “Downtown CoNNection” logo.
FiDi Families Insiders: One of the best features about the buses besides the free (woohoo) ride and convenience is the fact that they added GPS to each bus and you can track the locations of the various buses on their website to time your arrival at the designated pickup/drop off spots. It’s a great feature as you can time your departure to the shops at the WFC while the kids nap or take the kids for an adventure to the Staten Island Ferry.
