One of my children’s favorite kids t.v. shows is Chuggington™. It was introduced to the U.S. in 2010 and I was pretty sure it was destined to become a hit when I went to the playground, the week it was launched and kids were already singing the catchy theme song. And, I mean, EVERY SINGLE KID. Once one of the kids on the playground heard another humming or singing it, another would join and it was contagious. The show is geared towards the 2 – 5 year old set, but my 6 year old still happily watches this great show and my 4 year old is completely mesmerized by the characters.
The series follows the adventures of three young trainees – Wilson and his friends Brewster and Koko – as they ride the rails and take on exciting challenges that test their courage, speed and determination. Along the way, and with help and support from a strong community of engines and people, they learn positive values and new skills that empower them to become the best trainees they can be.
We were excited to attend a Chuggington™ DVD release party at the New York City Fire Museum in SoHo. This great DVD was released on March 31st and has been on a constant loop on our t.v. Attendees were invited to tour the museum, participate in arts and crafts and watch the latest release “Fire Patrol Rescue” in the museums screening room. The brand-new title, from Anchor Bay Entertainment, offers six engaging episodes – plus special bonus features! – and introduces families everywhere to the newest fire engine Chugger, Asher! “Fire Patrol Rescue,” also includes the new Asher toy train from TOMY™ for young fans to collect. The high quality, die-cast metal TOMY™ train/firetruck was a huge hit with my kids. In addition, a color book makes this DVD set, extra special. As we get ready for birthday parties, it will become a great gift to give to a little one and guaranteed to make him or her smile.
In “Fire Patrol Rescue,” it’s up to the Chuggers to put their skills to the test and save the day in Chuggington. Wilson sets out on fire patrol duty with his new friend Asher and learns how to use a fire hose; a friendly contest is held between Chug Patrol and Speed Fleet; Hodge finds himself in a high-rise jam and all the Chuggers practice emergency drills at the roundhouse! In these six action-packed episodes, Wilson, Asher, Brewster and their friends, along with young trainees at home, learn age-appropriate fire safety lessons and discover the importance of community service and working together.
