Children and Cyber Security – FREE Workshop
Internet usage among children is very common for all ages. Many parents want to learn about safety and security, as it relates to their children. The Leman Community Association in partnership with the Peck Slip School are inviting parents to attend this important workshop with a leading expert on the topic, Tyler Cohen Wood. With her insight and experience, Ms. Wood will review and cover the following topics:
- When is it appropriate to give children their own cell phone?
- Geo-tagging: what is it and why is it dangerous?
- Different online ways a predator can build a pattern of life to target you or your children.
- What is the appropriate use of social media and how it can affect your personal relationships.
- What social media means to our children v. what it means to us, both in terms of socialization and how we view others and ourselves.
- How what you share on social media today can affect your future.
- Ways you can monitor your child online and how to tell your child you are involved.
- How to put yourself in your child’s mind-set so that you can better understand the selfie culture.
- Our children are under an extreme amount of stress based solely on how their online profile is received by their peers.
- Can 1 bad selfie destroy your child’s reputation?
- How parents can contextualize that and help alleviate the burden.
