Behind the Scenes of the Movie Industry: New York on Location
FiDi Families is excited to share information on a unique event for families, that is DEFINITELY not in Lower Manhattan. The event is happening in Queens, but we love the idea of sharing our love of movies and the rare chance to go behind the scenes, so thought this was an event that was worthy of a FiDi Families post!
Museum of the Moving Image, Theatrical Teamsters Local 817, I.A.T.S.E. Local 52, and Kaufman Astoria Studios will present New York on Location, a day-long, family-friendly street fair that offers a behind-the-scenes look at film production in New York. The public will have the rare opportunity to go inside 20+ working movie trailers and trucks—straight from productions shooting in New York—and speak directly with movie professionals about what they do on set. As in past years, the event will feature stunt performers demonstrating street fighting, high-falls, and stunt-driving; makeup and hair demos; and weather effects like snow and rain.
FiDi Families Insiders: Food will be available from movie catering trucks and treat trucks.
Date: Sunday, May 22nd
Time: 11a – 5p
Location: Kaufman Astoria Studios backlot (36 Street, between 34 & 35 Ave), Museum of the Moving Image (36-01 35 Ave), and surrounding streets—at the heart of the Kaufman Arts District in Astoria, Queens, NY.
Admission is free to New York on Location and to the Museum all day.
