Remembering 9/11 in Lower Manhattan

The 9/11 Day of Service is the result of millions of people in the U.S. and around the world, honoring the victims of the 9/11 attacks. On the 13th anniversary of this tragic day, FiDi Families encourages families to volunteer or acknowledge this important date in history, in their own way. There are many memorial services planned around the world and at the World Trade Center site. According to the 9/11 Day of Service website, 47 million people observed 9/11 last year by doing good deeds. To learn more, please visit http://www.911day.org

Starting at 6 p.m. on September 11th, the Memorial’s annual Tribute in Light will illuminate the New York City skyline, serving as a way to remember the attacks and honor the nearly 3,000 victims who died that day.  For the first time in the institution’s history, the 9/11 Memorial will remain open until midnight on the 13th anniversary, and the Tribute in Light will sit just south of the site. The memorial plaza will be closed to the public for most of the day on Sept. 11 as the commemoration takes place. To learn more, please visit http://www.911memorial.org

Remembering 9/11 in Lower Manhattan

As a former eight year consultant for Cantor Fitzgerald, I am honored to be participating in the 10th Annual Charity Day in the Financial District. Every year, BGC Partners and Cantor Fitzgerald, in conjunction with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, commemorate their 658 friends and colleagues and the 61 Eurobrokers employees who perished on September 11, 2001 by distributing 100% of the global revenues on Charity Day to the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund and dozens of charities around the world. Since its inception, Charity Day has raised approximately $101 million globally. Each anniversary is a poignant occasion for all that participate. Charity Day is their way of turning a tragic day into one that is positive and uplifting by helping others. In addition to giving money to hundreds of charities worldwide, The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund also accepts donations from the general public.
