Climate Science on the Sand in Lower Manhattan

FiDi Families and all Lower Manhattan residents are invited to join the Waterfront Alliance on Brooklyn Bridge Beach as we approach the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy. Measure current tide levels, use a sea-level stick to envision future high water, and experiment with protecting shorelines in our erosion tray. Walk at the water’s edge on this shoreline that flooded seven years ago on October 29, and learn what community members can do to advocate for coastal resilience today.

FiDi Families Insiders: Rain or shine. Cancellation only in cases of severe weather. By order of New York City, swimming is prohibited and closed-toed shoes must be worn on the beach at all times.

Date: Saturday, October 26th

Time: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Location: Brooklyn Bridge Beach, under the Brooklyn Bridge on the Manhattan shore. Along the East River Waterfront Esplanade at Dover and South Streets.

Age(s): All ages welcome
