Save the Date: Hispanic Heritage Family Day!
Save the Date: Hispanic Heritage Family Day! Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at one of our favorite places, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian! Bring the whole family for a wonderful day of cultural events.
This event will feature a variety activities to help you learn more about the Spanish culture. Activities will include decorating a jaguar mask, coloring an animal pendant, bracelet weaving, and making animal buttons! The perfect way to learn a new craft and to leave with something of your very own.
In addition to the crafting portion, there will be plenty of learning for you and your children. Guests will learn about the importance of corn and watch corn grinding demonstrations. All activities are in conjunction with the “Cerámica de los Ancestros: Central America’s Past Revealed” exhibition.
Don’t miss out on a free special screening of The Chocolate Farmer in the auditorium. The film is about the life and family of Belizean cacao farmer, Eladio Pop. Watch his life as he struggles to preserve their Mayan values in a rapidly changing environment.
