Crafternoon
Crafternoon! Bring your young artists to the BPC Library to learn how to craft origami paper cranes! This is a fun and simple craft that can become an everyday, easy and fun activity for you and your children! Here, they will read The Paper Crane by Molly Bang followed by the craft! This specific program focuses on your children’s fine motor skills! It is open to children of all ages and their adult chaperon who can help with folding and completing the craft!
The Paper Crane is a beautifully illustrated book based on the retelling of an ancient Japanese Folktale! In this tale business returns to a once-prosperous restaurant when a mysterious stranger pays for his meal with a magical paper crane that comes alive and dances. This book is perfect to use with children learning about patterns in storytelling.
The Battery Park City Library hosts many children’s programs and storytime is one of our favorites. It’s a great way to introduce your children to the public library system. Kids can enjoy interactive stories, action songs, fingerplays, and spend time with other toddlers from the neighborhood. Story time is a great way to encourage listening skills, vocabulary and imagination. No reservation is required and the library has easy stroller access. Support your local library!
